My students are kind; they treat others with respect. In the hallways, students can often be seen stopping and helping others who have dropped items. They write positive messages and leave them for their teachers and friends. They donate to causes such as the food bank and fundraisers for others who aren't as fortunate. They befriend others who appear lonely.
My students are hard working; they take the challenges in front of them and tackle them.
It is not uncommon for students to go to school all day, have sports practice in the evening, chores at home and then still need to complete homework at home before they have time to rest. Working hard toward their goals, my students succeed.
My students are survivors; they persevere in difficult times. Give them a challenge and they push through it. This pandemic is no exception. The students stomp through many obstacles to continue their education-poverty, mental health, physical health issues do not stop them. Like all kids, they deserve access to quality education.
My Project
It is the twenty first century. Students need access to technology for their educations. Some students already have access to tablets, Chromebooks, or phones; however some do not.
I am looking for two Chromebooks to keep in my classroom to help those students who do not have access to technology.
With the Chromebooks we will explore various websites to further students' education. One such website is Quill.org which helps students hone their writing and grammar skills. Another site is Google Classroom. We use this platform for much of my class whether it is blogging, submitting essays, or keeping organized.
