Help me give my students dissection software and a perch dissection kit to complete both virtual and physical dissections during hybrid and remote learning.
I have introduced a new high school elective in Marine Science after several years of curriculum work to students who do not live near the ocean. There are currently 36 students enrolled in the elective ranging from advanced 10th graders to 12th graders. These virtual dissections will help next years students as well as the license is good for 12 months.
With students who are both hybrid and fully remote, having the ability to complete both virtual and physical dissections will give both sets of students a very similar experience.
Additionally, the virtual licensing has several different marine animals available, such as sea stars, so students will still be able to complete the virtual dissections of several creatures, not just perch. Since we do not currently have enough money to purchase the creatures, having this license will afford these students to be able to study those marine animals in a virtual way.
My Project
Since some students are hybrid while others are fully virtual, the virtual dissection licenses will allow students complete the dissections remotely and the perch dissection will the physical dissection for students who are physically in class.
This way, students who are learning remotely will receive a similar experience to those in class.
Students will be able to compare the perch to the dogfish sharks that we were able to acquire from an earlier donors choose project. With the variety of virtual dissections available, students will be able to virtually dissect sea stars and several other creatures that our budget doesn't currently allow to purchase for physical dissections.
