I have the absolute pleasure of being our school's preschool to sixth-grade school counselor! Throughout the years, I have carried many roles with this title, but my favorite role is working with our amazing students. Our school houses over 730 students. Many of them come to our school lacking social and emotional skills. In addition to that, many of them come to school on a daily basis without their basic needs being met. It is, without doubt, the most rewarding job I could have ever asked for to be able to assist and help these students, as well as all of the students in my district.
Over 70% of our students come from low-income households, but that does not stop them from being some of the most friendly, positive, and hardworking students.
Throughout the day, I am able to work with the students helping them to get acquainted with the school, offer them guidance and support in terms of academic, personal, parental, and social pressures, as well as advocate for their well-being. In addition to that, I get to help students process problems, develop strategies, implement coping skills, and plan and set academic, social/emotional, and career goals!

As we know these are unprecedented times in our world! It is so important to follow the guidelines given to ensure as much safety as possible!
I am a school counselor and I love and miss my kids and want to continue to connect with them through google classroom and for students who do not have technology I would love to send cards to them so they know they are loved and thought about every day!
A chrome book will make it possible to connect with my kids in the virtual world and the cards will help me to keep that connections with my other precious kids!
