My Students
My students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. My school houses the largest special education population within the district. Free breakfast and free lunch are available to every child in our building each day, which are now remotely served.
Since March 17th, my students have been learning at home.
School will be closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the rest of the school year. This presents a challenge, as most of my students do not have access to supplies in their homes.
My Project
My amazing students have been working incredibly hard using the assignments that I have given them with Google Classroom. However, my learners would benefit greatly from me having a mobile whiteboard to be able to demonstrate learning strategies. I am currently using a small dry erase board and it is not ideal for my students' needs.
My living room is now my classroom.
Therefore, it is very important that I have the resources to help them grasp the concepts and skills they need to succeed for summer school and possibly next school year if remote learning is extended.
The adjustable whiteboard will help me not only make my students feel they are in a classroom, but also to give them a more accommodating view to model academics while teaching via Zoom. The colorful Expo Markers will allow for differentiation, aid in color-coded notes, and also be able to see distinctly through remote learning.
