Our students are an amazing, creative, and energetic group of individuals. They all come to school excited to experience success and ready to learn. They work together to create a classroom environment that is inclusive and safe for everyone.
They are passionate about art projects, protecting our earth, making a difference, and learning new skills.
These students face many challenges. We are a Title One school that currently has over sixty percent of the students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. They work really hard and are eager to learn.
My Project
If you've ever had an author visit your school, you know the students' enthusiasm for them—the cheers, the many questions, the wide eyes! Having an author visit our school is a great way to get kids excited about reading and writing.
Bruce Hale is a popular speaker and storyteller for elementary-age students.
From picture books to novels and graphic novels, Bruce has written and/or illustrated over 50 books for kids. His popular series include the award-winning Chet Gecko Mysteries, The Monstertown Mysteries, and Clark the Shark, among others.
Author visits create a lasting impression on students. They build relationships between kids and the written word, inspire them to pursue creative endeavors, and connect lessons learned in the classroom with the wider world. There’s nothing quite like hearing about the behind-the-scenes process of putting a book together to engage struggling readers and generate interest in the creative process. Hearing from an author in person puts a human face on one book in particular, which often snowballs into an increased interest in books in general.
This Virtual visit will be a school-wide experience! The whole school will have the chance to log in for this super special guest!
