I recently made the switch from Middle School Visual Art Teacher to Elementary Art Teacher, and it has been an immense pleasure getting to know the students at my new school!
My students are full of creativity, ambition, and a willingness to work hard!
We are a public school, serving one of the most diverse neighborhoods in St. Louis. While the students come from economically diverse backgrounds, many of my students lack resources and need the extra support we aim to provide in our classrooms.
The diversity in our school is something that students and teachers take pride in, and as such, our school aims to provide an environment that encourages differences while focusing on trauma-informed practices. Being an art teacher, I also aim to develop and foster a love for the arts through a large range of arts offerings and critical thinking by offering TAB/Choice art in my classroom.
My Project
We have all been affected by the Corona Virus that is sweeping across the world and while we take precautions to stop the spread, our nation's students have been sent home without a clear end in sight. It is vital that we do not lose sight of the importance of education during times such as these.
By providing the means to create meaningful, high-quality virtual lessons, I will be able to help students continue to thrive as learners.
I am requesting a Macbook to assist with recording, creating and editing virtual art lessons in my home studio. Many of the high-quality software programs needed to create these virtual lessons are only available on Mac products, so in using the Macbook, not only will I have the ability to create the lessons more efficiently, I will be able to create a large library of virtual art lessons that my students can access online.
