My Students

I teach at a wonderful middle school that has been recognized four times as a "school to watch." This is very remarkable since we live in a high-poverty area and many of our students have difficulty finding support for musical enrichment outside of our classroom.

My students thrive in a student-centered learning environment where they can discover and learn by using our classroom tools and technology.

We have very little room in our classroom budget for anything but basic music needs and instrument repairs.

My Project

We are always looking for new ways to bring music to our students. We have wonderful band and choral programs at out school, but we currently have nothing to offer students who would like to explore stringed instruments.

We hope to start collecting a few string instruments for our students.

This violin will be the first of several instruments that may spark an interest in our students to explore their musical talents. Our string instruments may start as a individual course of study, but we hope to increase our offerings until we have a string ensemble or even a school-wide orchestra program!
