My students need a viola and shoulder rest so that our growing group can continue to offer orchestra to every child who wants to play.
Help! Our violists have to share their instruments! I teach orchestra at a middle and high school in North Carolina. Both schools have a high percentage of low income and at-risk students. Our program is committed to providing the orchestra experience to every student who wants to participate, regardless of their ability to purchase their own instrument. The community supports our efforts but funds are limited.
We have had great success in recruiting students to play viola, an instrument that is sometimes overlooked but is wonderful for young students to play. Two of our violists are waiting for an instrument that they do not have to share. They are not able to take their instrument home to practice even though they very much want to do this. To make good progress they need to have their own instruments.
We need a good quality 15' viola so that our orchestra program can continue to grow and offer this opportunity to every child who wants to play. Every student will benefit from this donation because the student who receives it will be able to practice more and the growth of the viola section will make the orchestra sound better.
Your help will make it possible for my students to improve their playing right away and make the orchestra a stronger group. In the future, this instrument will continue to help us as it is passed on to other students who want to join our class.
