My students come from a very diverse population. I have students from all backgrounds and all walks of life. My students are low readers, but they enjoy a good story and will get engaged and try when they enjoy the story.
My students are able to bring their life experiences into their learning experience and make it meaningful.
If they can relate to the story, they are able to learn from it and enjoy it a lot more. My students are hard workers when engaged.
My Project
I chose the book Surviving Hitler because this is the novel we will be reading for our Holocaust unit. I would like a class set so that all of my students can read this novel.
Surviving Hitler is a true story about how a boy survived the Holocaust.
My students and I will read this story together and discuss the importance of this story.
My goal in reading this is to discover not just what happened in the Holocaust, but why the German citizens allowed Hitler to commit genocide. I want to study this dark time in history with my students in order to prevent this awful time from happening again in our time.
