Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My motto in my classroom is "No excuses, just solutions". I strive to teach my students how to find solutions to their problems so that they don't have any excuses. One of my goals for my students by the end of the year is to take ownership of their education.
Many of my students come from low income families.
I teach mostly Hispanic, African American and Asian students. My students are very interesting and come from all sorts of backgrounds. I have a lot of respect for them because of their perseverance and work ethic. Many are taking care of siblings at home on top of their school load and possibly an outside job. They have faced much adversity already in their life and yet they continue to press on.
My Project
I am asking for 2 tablets for my classroom so that my students will be able to access tutorial videos. Many of my students have devices that they can use to watch the videos, but I do not want to punish those that don't. They should have the same opportunity. The videos will provide additional support for the student as they study for a test or simply try to complete an assignment.
The donation of these tablets will improve my classroom because I believe it will improve the engagement level.
Students love to use technology and are more likely to do their work in this manner. In the workplace technology is used daily, however students have limited use on a regular basis. I would like to provide them the opportunity to improve their technology skills while learning the math content.
