Video Documentation and Home Programs for Families
My students need a camcorder, sharpeners, and a hole punch to help us document progress. We also need a screwdriver and ziploc bags for our interactive learning devices.
It is amazing to see the progress students make throughout the year. If we receive a video camera for our classroom we can document the progress our students make throughout the year and share with staff within the school and families. We also need items that will help us document skills on paper.
My students range in grades K-5.
All of my students have special needs and are currently non-verbal. We use augmentative communication systems within our classroom as well as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) to help facilitate and maximize communication.
My Project
Family involvement is a huge factor in creating learning programs for children. These resources will help our student's families implement learning programs within their own homes so that our students can generalize their skills into their everyday lives. With video documentation, we can share with families the skills our students are learning with in the classroom and provide families support within their homes. These resources will help our classroom staff better document the progress our students are making. Using video documentation will help us to show the skills that students have learned throughout the year. The video will be used within our classroom to help us discuss interventions that have been successful. We are asking for a whole punch and pencil sharpeners which will help us document progress on paper. We are also asking for Ziploc bags and a screwdriver that will allow us to organize academic tasks and allow us to put batteries in our interactive devices.
This project with help families see exactly what the students are learning in school and this will help them implement these strategies in their home programs.
This project will help our instructional team create better interventions for our students. We will use the videos to talk about student progress and have discussions about ways that we can improve our teaching.
