Vibrant Visuals for First Grade English Language Learners
My students need visuals to help build their vocabulary and language. A color printer will help create clear, vibrant visuals that will help them engage in the content and better build their understanding and language.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is an energetic group of 20 first grade students; they are all English Language Learners whose families' first language is Spanish. Almost 70% of students at our school are considered "economically disadvantaged." Some of my students' families did not receive formal schooling of their own but are committed to their children's learning.
Despite hardships of their families and their own, my students are enthusiastic learners, eager to take on new challenges.
They are engaged and active young thinkers and doers who are ready to learn and grow academically, and socially. They love experiential learning and working with each other.
My Project
My students are first graders who are English Language Learners.
Clear, vibrant visuals engage and support building their language skills and vocabulary.
Printed materials in colors will help them visualize and internalize concepts and ideas; however, we do not have access to color printing at my school. Quick, easy access to color printing will help create necessary visual tools.
Our literacy curriculum includes complex and important topics such as communities and collaborating to solve community issues, fair trade and goods and services around the world, animal adaptations, weather, technology of then and now, and maps and mapping. Vocabulary development is an integral part of literacy. Visuals printed in color will help them engage in new concepts and vocabulary necessary for learning in our changing global world.
