This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are all from low income families. Most live in low income housing with no yards, so they must stay indoors. The families do not have school supplies for every child in the family.
My students love to learn and they are very sad that school buildings have been closed.
They miss seeing me and I miss seeing them. There is much to be said about learning with your peers in a safe and caring environment.
My Project
My students will enjoy collaborating about what they know about a topic as I write their ideas on the chart paper. They enjoy helping to make lists of ideas, describing characteristics of objects, and guessing what word I am writing.
The bright colors of the markers will help the students feel like they are in the classroom.
The adjustable easel will help me be able to stand as I teach, just like in the classroom. The upper and lower case magnetic letters along with the magnetic numbers and counters will help me create lessons at my students' level of learning.
