This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our musical community is made up of an incredibly diverse student population consisting of various ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. The students range from 9th through 12th grade. Our program has a long tradition of performance excellence with over fifty years of history.
These students work incredibly hard as a core unit to demonstrate the very best that our school has to offer.
Regardless of setbacks or obstacles, the students work tirelessly to give their all for every occasion. We love making music!
Our marching band is a large part of the school spirit at our high school. With over 100 members, we play at pep rallies, football games, and at parades. We bring spirit to the community by performing in many area parades. Our marching band received the highest possible score at our Marching Performance Assessment (the competition we work towards the entire marching season).
My Project
As the Marching Lions march into a new school year, it is important that we have the right instruments to do so. The vibraphone that we have currently is outdated and old. With the current vibraphone, students are unable to play their best.
As a marching band with an incredible history of excellence in performance, it is essential that every student is given the chance to perform to the BEST of their ability.
Our goal is to update our percussion instruments used in marching band bit by bit, especially due to the fact that our upcoming show is very percussion heavy. -Because of the demand and constant use in varying Florida weather, the wear and tear on the instruments is great. It is important that we strive to update the instruments in order to allow every student to perform at the highest level.
