Help me give my students Vex Robotics super kit to start a girls lunchtime robotics team.
This project expired on February 7, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
There are many great things going on at our school. Our school is changing the distinguish practice by becoming a STEAM school. Sixth-grade students will be participating in band class and will be able to study one instrument for the school year.
As a teacher of students who come from situations that are beyond their control, I push them to persevere and be the best that they can be despite circumstances.
Some of my students are either homeless or live in motels or a crowded room. Some of my students are responsible for caring for their younger siblings as their parents work long hours. Regardless of the situation, they come to school and learn. Living close to a popular tourist attraction, many of my students and their families are unable to go because they can’t afford it. Our school is a Title I school where the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
I am trying to get the girls at my school excited about STEM by building a robot. I am requesting two sets of Vex Robotics super kit to start a girls lunchtime robotics team. By fully funding this project, I will be able to encourage the sixth-grade girls at my school to learn how to build, code, program, and possibly compete with robots.
Currently, there isn't a lot of girls interested in robotics at my school and I want to change that.
The girls at my school are creative and bright. I want to show that there is fun in coding and robotics. By funding two kits, I can encourage more girls to participate. In the end, I would love to have a competition.
