Our brand new school opened in August 2018. Our school is located in Lexington, North Carolina. The school consists of grades kindergarten through fourth grade, every year adding a new grade level. There are about 340 students total who attend our school.
A small group of my students will participate in creating this art display, dedicated to a Veteran's Day celebration in November.
These select students will attend a "Genius Hour" art class once a week, from now until November to complete this project. Third and fourth grade students make up this group. These students were selected to participate according to their interest in art, and/or interest in supporting military veterans. We need some materials for this special project. Please help, if you're able!
My Project
Every student in our school participates in a "Genius Hour" project. Students will research and study chosen topics for one hour a week, essentially presenting their findings in the end.
A small group of third and fourth graders will be participating in a special Veteran's Day, genius hour, art project.
These students will collaboratively create patriotic art projects that will be showcased in a school wide assembly in November. We will have guest veterans that will speak to our students in the assembly. This project will include making a special gift for our speakers (16x20 canvasses), decoration for the event (large white paper and paint), and a large canvas (previously donated) to hang in the school to commemorate our first year celebrating Veteran's Day. The paint and mod podge will be used for the large collaborative flag. These supplies listed will be used by all students.
