I teach 3rd grade in an inner city, public, elementary school where all my students are English language learners. About 80% of our students are low income and receive free or reduced-price lunches. "Having a thirst for learning" simply understates my students' attitudes toward their learning. My students are a group of motivated, hardworking learners. They are eager and ready to learn every day to build upon their knowledge. I am very fortunate to work with this group of students who yearn to learn from the start of the school day to the last bell of the day.
Our school’s mission is to provide students with effective teaching methods and a safe and nurturing environment that will prepare them for their future.
It is imperative for students to understand the importance of being global citizens who appreciate learning through collaboration. In this holistic approach, students learn the importance to be self-disciplined and work together to further challenge their thinking.
My Project
VersaTiles is a wonderful way to provide hands-on activities for students to build upon their math skills. Students will get to work in small groups or independently to practice and reinforce the skills learned in class. This is a great way for students to further develop the skills they learn through the school year.
VersaTiles allows me to provide differentiated math groups.
Students will get to work at their own proficiency level and at their own pace as they check their own work.
