I have the privilege of getting to teach math and work with anywhere from 50-75 elementary students each week in a co-teaching and pull-out and in-class small group setting. My students are mainly in the upper elementary grades at a small rural school. Many students come from low-income households and are always in need of the basic school supplies to be most successful.
My classes consist of the students who tend to need a little extra support in math.
Even though the kiddos struggle at times they are all very eager and excited to learn. They make teaching fun! They enjoy using new tools (especially technology and games) and being able to move around as much as possible.
The VersaTiles Puzzles will allow my students to practice different math skills for all students in 1st Grade. These VersaTiles allow for students to self-check themselves while working independently, with a partner, or in small groups.
My students get very excited about new ways to practice math skills and these will allow them to check themselves while they work to get immediate feedback.
I think that these puzzles will help them to practice math skills in a new way and get quick response with the self-checking feature. Many of my students will also enjoy the game like elements of these puzzles. This will also help to encourage my younger students to enjoy math more.
