Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are fabulous. They are eager, cheerful kids who are full of energy. Third grade is a transitional stage where they are required to learn more standards as well as learn to be independent. They are now able to get into the nitty-gritty of learning topics instead of focusing on basic skills. I am always amazed at how they rise up to challenges despite all the new obstacles they must overcome.
Many of my students come from low-income families.
This does not hold us back from being resourceful. The students find creative ways to complete projects or bring in their experiences into the classroom so we can learn from each other. Our school is unique in that it is surrounded by many cultures. We have Thai Town, Little Armenia, Korea Town, Little Bangladesh, and more! The local businesses are friendly and welcome our students when we take walking field trips to the post office, library, and hospital.
My Project
The Ipevo document camera is a teaching tool that allows a person to show a group of people anything that can be magnified! Students utilize the document camera to share their artwork, written work, and even teach others how to solve problems. Our class needs a document camera that can move easily to allow others a clear view of sight to the board.
An interactive whiteboard lets students manipulate shapes, edit written work, play interactive games, and create incredible presentations!
This is the best part...it is mobile! I would be able to move the camera to project on my large board, to show whole group lessons and when working in small groups, I can move the camera to my smaller table. This will help me target literacy skills while keeping my small group engaged.
