I teach third and fourth grade in the city of Louisville, Kentucky. My students love to read and learn new things every day. They come to school excited to learn and to be at school in a familiar, structured environment. They are a very active group of students, and I always try to keep them moving and learning in a variety of ways.
The students in my classroom love to read.
They are growing to love a variety of books this year and engaging in longer chapter books as well. I am always looking for new activities to challenge them and help them grow as readers.
My Project
During each school day, I teach literacy to 45 kids in both third and fourth grades. I need to use many different teaching techniques in order to best reach all of them. I am constantly looking for new ways to challenge and engage each one of them.
VersaTiles literacy kits would allow me to keep my students engaged and having fun while they are practicing many of the reading and language skills that they have been learning in class.
These would be very beneficial to my students during reading workshop. I would be able to differentiate these games to their skill level for each topic. They also come with content area reading in social studies and science. These are areas that my students really need more exposure to, so these would be perfect to add to our classroom!
