Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the hardest working students. My students live in Trenton, NJ. My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. However, we do not have the necessary materials and supplies to ensure that my students are successful in the 21st century. However, I want to eliminate that gap, and ensure that my students rise to the challenge of being successful! In the words of Rita Pierson, "Every kid needs a champion!"
I am hoping to make a change in my students' lives; they have already been short-changed, and I want to make sure they are successful.
As their teacher, I want to be the constant source of support and help them to learn and grow. I want to make sure I give the students the tools they need to become a great citizen in their community. Please consider my campaign!
My Project
This material is quite simply, amazing! During centers, my students will be able to learn Literacy through the self checking system of VersaTiles.
According to the ETA website, VersaTiles are "Proven to increase proficiency on high- stakes assessments up to 72%"..
With VersaTiles students will be engaged, and continue to grow their literacy skills, during literacy rotations. VersaTiles encompasses a variety of skills that my students will need to use before PARCC, comes this upcoming May. I want to continue my students success when it comes to literacy, and help them grow during the academic year. Most of my students come two to three grade levels below in reading level. With the self-checking system, students will be able to see their mistakes and make the necessary corrections! What’s better then an engaging hands-on center?
