Help me give my students VersaTiles, an alternative to traditional math practice, that also creates an exciting learning environment that increases student confidence.
They always have a thirst for learning. They are full of excitement as they enter the door with curiosity gleaming, wanting to know what the academic day has in store.
Our school is located near two major Air Force Bases in Northwest Florida. It is a Title I school, which means over half of our school is on free and reduced lunch. Fifty percent of the children in my class have one or both parents serving in the military, which means that one or both of their parents may be deployed for an extended time throughout the year. This will leave the children to be transient with their extended families. They just pick up wherever they are and continue to grow academically, mentally, and physically. These children are so resilient. They sacrifice so much for our freedom.
My Project
I am requesting hand2mind VersaTiles Math set. The request will allow my students to increase their algebraic thinking, number sense, and fact fluency in an exciting and engaging manner. These resources will offer my students to have an opportunity to practice and master the math skill independently with self check. These resources will be used in small group or independent practice, they will provide a challenging yet engaging tool for my students to use. My students will enjoy using these materials at stations and independent on a daily basis. By providing my class with these engaging tools, the students will build a concrete understanding in math.
