Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students from Oakland are part of a pilot STEM program. This program gives our economically disadvantaged students of color from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district.
My energetic students enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.
This will be first time they EVER have the opportunity to delve this deeply into technology. Our school has a 100% free school lunch population, so this brings an unprecedented opportunity to expose them to robots in a fun and productive way.
My Project
Kids get so energized and engaged when the Elegoo robot cars are the focus. They are having so much fun learning about what works and what doesn't. We will have the students build, debug and run mazes initially to understand how robots work and how much detailed work goes into making a robot run
We'll learn about how the robots sensors work, about control systems and c++ coding techniques.
The robots are the perfect hook to keep them engaged and learning about what they can do to affect the world around them.
This concerted learning gives them so much in such a short period of time and they keep coming back for more.
