Help me give my students new cheerleading uniforms. Quality cheerleading uniforms are very expensive at almost $400 a piece. Their current uniforms are are showing signs of repeated wear.
We live in a small rural North Carolina county. Many of my students come from low-income families. The cheerleading squad is made up of an amazing group of young ladies. They practice late nights, holidays, and weekends to compete and still be able to cheer for our football and both the girls and boys basketball teams. The team has a strong work ethic and always strive to be their very best.
My cheerleaders need new uniforms to look and perform their best this season.
Our Varsity cheerleaders only have one uniform that they wear for football games, basketball games (two sometimes three games per week), and all competitions. The uniforms that they currently have are old and are showing signs of so much wash and wear.
My Project
Our cheer team has not had new uniforms in many years. Cheerleading uniforms are very expensive. The average uniform cost is close to $400 with taxes and shipping. Our school simply cannot spend this much on uniforms when we have so many other needs. Our county was hit hard by Hurricane Florence last year and our school system had to replace damaged items. Purchasing uniforms is not the top priority even though they are needed. The uniforms we have now are beginning to fall apart because they have been worn so often. Our current uniforms have been worn and washed two sometimes three times per week since they were purchased over four years ago. The uniforms are worn for football season, basketball season, and also all competitions.
