My third graders are AMAZING! They are full of wonder and are just so...teachable!
Each morning, the kids greet me with smiling faces because they know already that it is going to be a great day at school.
School is a happy, safe place where they are respected and celebrated.
I motivate my students to learn by making learning fun and meaningful! The children are engaged in various exciting activities throughout the day including: read-alouds on the rug, games, experiments, choice boards, interactive lessons on the Smart Board, cooperative group work, reading and writing conferences, peer editing picnics outside on the grass, partner reading, and even using laptops!
Yes, these little 8-year-olds are very tech savvy! They love using their Chromebooks to access Google Classroom, Raz-Kids, IXL, Study Island, BrainPop, Type to Learn, Prodigy, Newsela, ReadWorks, and other educational sites. The kids LOVE to take "brain breaks" on GoNoodle (yoga stretches and dancing), and they look forward to incentives like golden tickets, marbles, and brag tags!
Many of my students participate in after school activities like piano lessons and soccer. My students are hardworking and kind. They deserve the very best because they are our future.
My students loves to read around our digital campfire in the dark; however, they need a bit more light. Holding a flashlight is no fun while trying to hold a book and turn a page. Clip on book lights should do the trick!
Our classroom uses flexible seating, and the portable desks are just what we are missing!
Sometimes you need to cozy up against a wall to get your work done. These desks can be moved around the room for students to work independently in a quiet, cozy corner or placed in a circle for group work. They can even be taken outside for some lessons out in the fresh air.
Let's not forget about public speaking and oral presentations! So important for our children's voices to be heard!!! Third graders sometimes have difficulty speaking up. A "real" microphone to the rescue!
Our laptops are used frequently, and that means germs and smudges are all over the keyboards and screens. Eww! These electronics wipes are desperately needed.
