My students are from low-income families. Sixty percent of the students in my school are at the poverty line. They enjoy the arts, and making art gives them a sense of achievement. It would be fantastic to offer different art materials to them this year to increase their knowledge of other mediums. Students have mentioned that the art class is the one place where they can have fun and create. When the kids walk by the art room they wave at me and say they can't wait till art class again.
My Project
I would like the students to be able to experiment with texture and relief rubbing plates to understand some elements of art, understand early photo process in cyanotype sun prints and the history of photography, gain knowledge of printing processes through time and experiment with the modern gel print process, have the opportunity to create a three-dimensional object from model clay, and have additional materials to create mixed media works.
Crayon and marker are great supplies and the students can learn more techniques and art history with the addition of these materials.
It would be a blessing to have these materials for my students.
