My Students

My students live in a very diverse community in Southern California. Every year, I have fourth graders who enter my classroom that are curious about the world around them and eager to learn. My students are diverse in regards to their backgrounds as well as learning styles. I have students who may be gifted, English language learners, or have learning disabilities. Whatever their backgrounds, my students love learning and interacting with each other in various way. The more they interact with one another, the more they learn from each other.

My Project

I am asking for oil pastels that contain a variety of colors for different skin shades. One of our art projects we do is a self portrait. It is important that students have skin tone colors that represent them and their friends.

I am grateful to work in a community that is culturally diverse.

This diversity should be seen in the students' art. They should be proud of the way they look and be able to express themselves. I want students to appreciate their diversity as well as their peers diversity.

Please help provide the art materials needed for our self portraits.
