Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine your first grade teacher leaving you? I am the third teacher this class has had this year, the second teacher was a long term sub. This class needs consistency and kindness. Fortunately, I have many years of experience. This class is full of energy and eager to learn.

My students love Science and discovering the world.

They are eager to make connections to what they know and are very curious.

They are on the brink of becoming independent readers. We do have books, unfortunately not at their level. It is very important to have books they can read at their level, so they can expand their reading level and learn about our world.

These students love hands-on activities, and projects. They need tools to make this happen. They are very kind to each other and share when needed. When homework is assigned, it is very evident what resources are available to these students. But each student comes to class proud of their accomplishments. I am very happy to see them each morning.

My Project

Reading and writing materials are essential in teaching reading. The chart paper, white board erasers, and journals that are requested will be used to teach phonics and writing lessons. Chart paper will also be used for anchor charts. Scissors are needed for projects done in class. Books at students' reading level will allow reading growth, in lexile and comprehension. Books that were chosen will allow students to see our world.

My students had a teacher that left them, it is essential that I build self esteem in these students and acknowledge who they are, so I am requesting the birthday package.
