Last school year, another teacher and I here at Vallecito took our classes to Angel Island State Park for an all day field trip. We focused on community building, teamwork, Bay Area history, and school spirit. The trip was so successful that I decided to take on a much more ambitious goal of bringing our entire school back to Angel Island for a year end celebration of school spirit and community building. On June 13, 2005, we will shut down the school for one day and bring everyone: students, teachers, custodian, secretary, librarian, all support staff, and even our two county run Special Education classrooms. Loading the kids up on buses and cars we will head down to Tiburon to climb on the Angel Island Ferry and spend the day celebrating our school and our school year. This field trip will include nearly 450 people, 380 being students. My hope is to have this cost entirely covered by this proposal so that everyone can attend without the burden of paying individually.
