Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students are all English Learners that come from low income, immigrant families. The students are only able to participate in school teams that require little to no sports fees.
My students come from low income, immigrant families that value the importance of education.
My students are usually the ones translating for their parents during their everyday life. As a result, my students come wanting to learn. My students are extremely eager and constantly wanting to expand their learning in school and sports. Sports is a universal language where all are able to participate and succeed.
My Project
My students need to know how to play volleyball with an official sized ball. They are used to playing with deflated mini volleyballs.
We hope to change their routine of playing with deflated mini volleyballs.
These athletic students will be able to practice and play with official sized volleyballs. They will be able to set up plays, serve, and know how the official sized balls "feel" during practice, so they won't be surprised during the real league games.
These students need to know what to expect in a real volleyball game to succeed and win as many games as they can.
