Utilizing Technology: Without Distracting Everyone Else!
My students need access to headphones to be able to utilize their Chromebooks' capabilities to the fullest. They will be able to access their textbooks' read-aloud function without disturbing others.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Most of my students have come to a point in their academic careers where their self-esteem is suffering. In order to change this point of view, it is my goal to set the stage for their success. These students need to know that even with their learning differences, they can be productive and successful members of society. By using a variety of interactive methods to introduce, support and master new concepts, these students will experience growth in their academic skills which will also influence their emotional growth.
This year we have introduced Chromebooks and 1 to 1 technology.
For my students, this is offering a great opportunity for them to have access to individualized instruction through online resources. Many of my students struggle, not only in understanding many fundamental math concepts, but also in reading fluency and comprehension. With the addition of these difficulties, many are discouraged and find it hard to participate. My plan, along with the rest of the teachers in our school, is to promote the use of technology to overcome the hurdles our students are facing.
My Project
The majority of my students struggle daily with retaining information. The more ways that they are able to gain access to the content; the more likely they are to learn the information. One of the ways that many need to be able to access information is auditorily. Our one-to-one Chromebook access has been wonderful for assisting in this. However, it can be disturbing to others if there are several students trying to listen to content that is providing different information.
These headphones will allow my students access to the read-aloud functions of their textbooks and videos that are supporting their learning without disturbing others.
I think it is important that all students are being respectful of the other students right to learn. Unfortunately, it has been difficult to provide that when we are having to deny students the option to work at their own pace with the read-aloud text options. We are currently either providing the quiet that some students need to process information OR providing the ability to listen to the text be read-aloud. When the material is read-aloud by a teacher or as a whole group, students who can work well on their own are being held back, and those that need more time to process information are being hurried.
Providing the access to the headphones will allow for both groups to have the opportunity to learn in their most efficient way!
