This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My third grade ELL students love read-aloud time! Every year one of their favorite books is "Sideways Stories from Wayside School". The silly stories and easy reading level always make it a hit.

Most of my students come from homes where parents are not able to read aloud in English, so for some school is the only place they can enjoy a good story and improve their English at the same time. I want to increase the benefits of our read-aloud time by not only allowing the students to listen, but to actually read the story with me.

I am asking for 20 copies of this book so that my students can follow along as I read, and then they can re-read the book during their silent reading time. Having their own copy of the book will help them learn new sight words and improve their fluency.

Your help will ensure that my students get the most out of our read-aloud time together.
