My Students

My scholars are wonderful children with a desire to learn. 100% of my scholars receive free breakfast, lunch, and some of them dinner. Our teachers are dedicated to serving the needs of these scholars and work hard to give them everything they need.

As a Behavior Specialist I work very closely with students who have some behavioral issues and special needs, one of the tools we use are visual boards and schedules for our scholars.

The most effective means for creating these tools is to make sure they are in color and vibrant for the needs of our scholars.

My Project

Visual schedules and First/Then boards are strategies to help scholars with Special Needs, we have scholars with Autism at out school. These strategies also work for scholars who need a visual reminder for monitoring and improving their behavior.

Research has shown that having something presented in color enhances the individual's visual memory and they are more likely to recall a color image than a black and white one.

Having these schedules and boards in a color format help the eyes focus on the task needed to be done.Color is also known to stimulate different areas of the brain which helps in achievement and learning.
