This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Help my students become 21st Century learners! They need access to a classroom laptop computer with Internet access to engage in interactive history lessons, conduct research, create student projects and presentations, and complete online lessons.

Boring old HISTORY lectures are a thing of the PAST in our classroom.

We want to bring history into the PRESENT, by using technology to prepare us for the FUTURE! My 5th grade social studies students attend a Title I rural school in South Carolina. Many are on free or reduced lunch and do not have computers or home Internet access.

My Project

My students need a Chromebook for access to 21st Century technology in order to engage in interactive lessons about the PAST, while preparing them for the FUTURE. Help my students get a classroom laptop so that they can creatively connect with and personalize their history assignments in their social studies notebooks by using primary sources and making digital presentations. Students will be able to do research for projects, learn basic computer search skills, and become engaged in interactive history lessons online. A laptop will open up the whole world as a source of inspiration and education for my students. When teachers use laptops in the classroom, they are no longer limited to presenting information from a boring old out-of-date textbook. With a laptop computer with Internet access, as a teacher, I would have the entire world of the web to share with my social studies' students.

The benefits of technology in the classroom are deep and wide.

When teachers are able to utilize technology, students are more engaged, more motivated and more excited about learning. An interactive classroom enables teachers to prepare dynamic multi-media lessons with hands-on components. Students are able to create and express themselves through projects, interactive lessons, and finished products. Please help my students become 21st Century learners!
