We are a Title I, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Academy located in Nevada. Our students represent a very culturally diverse population. They are hard-working children, in-spite of the fact that over half come from low-income & working-class families. The majority receive free/reduced price lunch and breakfast. In spite of the challenges they face, they come to school eager and ready to learn. Once a week, these K-5th grade students enter my art room to put the A in STEAM. We are designing an arts integrated program to enhance and support our STEAM investigations. We imagine, create, and experiment with our ideas, materials and colors.
We are letting our imagination soar!
My students are finding new passions and ways to express themselves as well as their knowledge. I am so lucky and thankful to see every learner at our Academy each week and watch them grow from year to year.
My Project
Our students are experimenting how the use of texture, along with other elements of design, can convey a variety of messages and emotions. We are in need of texture rubbing plates to explore how to make implied texture in a piece of work to create a sense of how something might feel. Our young artists are going to be using texture so they may give a sense of personality to a design, or utilized to create emphasis, rhythm, contrast, etc.
We are excited to apply and explore new artistic techniques.
The Shade-Tex Rubbing Plates and Fiskars Texture Plate Assortment Pack will allow students to connect textures that will match with the theme of their design or landscape. The RUBBING PLATES LEAF SET will connect to our STEAM as we explore nature, trees and the beauty of changing seasons.
