My students need a computer, ink cartridges, and earbuds to review and reinforce financial literacy skills.
Is it my turn yet? I hear this question over and over everyday in my kindergarten classroom. You see, having only two computers and 23 students makes it very hard to ensure that students are receiving the necessary practice while reinforcing money concepts.
I serve twenty-three, kindergarten students who live in the heart of the mountains of Kentucky.
They are bright, energetic, and very active children. They are at a critical time in their lives, the beginning stages of reading, writing, math, and the arts. In addition, they are learning critical character education skills.
I'm requesting a computer, ear buds, and ink for my students to use during technology time. This is a time in which students reinforce and practice key Kindergarten skills that are necessary to be prepared for first grade. Money and financial literacy skills will be reviewed and reinforced using this computer. Students will be able to identify coins and their values. In addition, they will be able to add and subtract coin values.
The ink cartridges will be used to provide them with a certificate of completion and serve as a reward for moving from level to level on the "Piggy Bank" interactive. To allow for each student to focus on the lesson at the forefront, the earbuds will provide a means to hear only their lesson loud and clear, rather than everyone else's lesson too.
These materials will make a lasting difference in the lives of twenty-three students.
They will be equipped with the necessary financial literacy skills to make real world connections and decisions. Please help us achieve this goal by donating to this project and give a gift that will keep on giving, year after year...the gift of financial literacy through technology!
