Our student body is super diverse, but they all have one thing in common — they are ready to learn, eager to succeed, and determined to go to college. They come from all over the world: Mexico and the Philippines, Bolivia and Colombia, and some have been born and raised in East Palo Alto. They love to read and write, study math and science, make art and play sports — and most of all, they love our school!
From hands-on experiments in science class to work in our organic garden, our students' rich academic life extends beyond the classroom. Our after school programs are designed with learning and fun in mind, and include spending time with our dedicated volunteers. When it comes to special events, our students love to show off their performance skills and what they learned to their parents and the school.
Technology is a core part of the experience of 21st-century youth and at EPAPA, we aim to give scholars the chance to make their mark! Our amazing learning community would benefit from the Apple iPad that has movie making software, music production tools and photography editing tools that will give youth an opportunity to not only learn valuable 21st century digital skills but also have a chance to tell their personal stories and document their history.
Our scholars deserve a chance to tell their stories and technology can help share it with the World!
As a part of our academic identity and culture of belonging initiative at EPAPA, we would like to create a media and production suite that allows for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will be able to create videos, podcasts and images to broadcast their own online channel. We have received some equipment but need a couple of other important pieces.
The microphones and lights will help scholars be able to create quality interviews, shows and video casts of topics that are a part of their middle school experience, both to support their peers and to inspire younger students. The light covers help create production value and creates an environment of calm and engaging atmosphere that inspires the arts and technology. This opportunity to share their experiences with their parents, peers, community and the entire globe is an invaluable part of creating valuable and engaged humans in our World. Thanks in advance for supporting!
