My Students

Our school is located in the foothills of Appalachia. My students are all special needs students that come from low income homes and have been placed into a self-contained type classroom for all academic classes. These students have not felt success in the general classroom setting and have very low self-esteem. They do not have the confidence in themselves that students should have.

It is really sad to know that students feel this way about themselves, and that is why I am coming to you for help.

I want to help better their confidence academically and open their minds to everyday learning activities.

My Project

My students love to learn using technology. My students are all low income and all are on the free lunch program. By funding this project, it will give my students the opportunity to learn using technology, which is essential in today's day and age.

The students will be using the iPad to follow up with topics that are taught in class, along with working on fluency of math facts, spelling, and reading sight words, etc.

I would like to incorporate this into a technology center during my centers time in the morning. I do this now, but I am gaining students and do not have enough to share with all students. I believe that all the students would love to have the opportunity every day to work on the iPad and practice skills from class.
