This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited to be in school, eager to learn new things and build strong relationships with classmates and school staff. They bring many diverse cultures together into one school setting with representation from 23 different countries.

As a counselor, I work with my students to build social skills, emotional awareness, problem-solving skills, and self-control.

I provide them with a safe place to share their feelings and we work together to grow and succeed in school and at home. Many times, my students simply need someone to talk to; someone who will be there to listen and support them. That is the best part of my job.

My Project

In today's schools, students are increasing their abilities to work with technology. iPads, tablets, and Chromebooks allow students to gather more information and learn in a new way. Part of my schools' School Improvement Plan is to increase the use of technology in the classroom.

I would like to use an iPad to integrate technology when working with students in small groups and individual counseling sessions.

There are many wonderful interactive websites and apps available that the student(s) and I can navigate through together. These programs incorporate many topics covered in the school counseling program. A few that I focus on most often are social skills, emotion regulation, anti-bullying, self-esteem, and responsibility.
