Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Dual language Kindergarten class in a Title I district. My students are also English language learners trying to master objectives in both their native language and a new language they are trying to learn. This is a hard task for my five-year-olds to accomplish, but I know that it can be done.
My students walk into my classroom every morning with a big smile on their faces and ready to learn!
But I realize that I need to provide them with the right materials in order for them to succeed.
My Project
Hurricane Harvey affected the whole district where I teach. It was total devastation throughout our neighborhoods and in our schools. My whole was displaced and I had to teach in a very crowded space and share that space with another class during the whole first semester. Thankfully, we are back in our school now.
Due to all the changes suffered because of Harvey, many of my students are a little behind in their academics.
These iPads will help them catch up in all curricular areas and they will be able to do it in Spanish, which is their native language. The iPads will be placed in our technology center and students will be able to use them on a daily basis. I will download many apps they can use to increase their Math and Literacy skills in a fun way!
