Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Think about it. We live in a 21st Century world of learning. Students expect to be challenged with tools that they use at home. Tablets are the appropriate answer to this dilemma.
My students are a fun bunch of young people.
They love using the few tablets that we have. I purchased more tablets with my own money just to serve the kids better. Our school has a population of over 800 kids and our school does not have extra funding. Any donation of tablets would be appreciated and used every single day!
My Project
The students will use the tablets every day with language arts and math. We currently use them along with an application called Padlet. Padlet is an online "poster" where the students can currently post vocabulary words, images, and definitions in an online environment. We currently are having the Padlets exported as PDFs in order to showcase them in the classroom. It's an effective way to show off student work. The students are excited to use our tablets and one computer in the classroom. Students do research, write reading logs, and complete vocabulary building tasks. The tablets change the way I teach!
With the tablets, we will continue to engage the students in a 21st Century manner.
Truly, we will use the additional tablets to shift the paradigm in the classroom and cause the learning to continue to be student centered. Please help!
