I am a teacher in a small, elementary, Brooklyn, neighborhood school. I will be teaching third grade. My students are from diverse backgrounds and range in academic abilities from non-English speaking students to advanced learners, and include general education as well as special education students. My students are heterogeneously grouped. Many of my students face academic struggles and are in need of extra support.
My enthusiastic students are full of energy, love to express themselves, and actively participate in our classroom activities.
They are always ready to go on a new learning adventure. In September, they returned for in-person learning. My students love to learn and are eager to come to school every day.
My goal is to give them the best learning experience and make it a memorable year. My responsibility is to guide my students to become more independent to prepare for the rest of their academics. I believe the more engaged my students are, the better outcomes they will have.
My Project
My students need science books that are age-appropriate and kid-friendly. Soon we will begin our unit of study in matter and energy. My students need literature to read and learn about these topics.
The best way to learn about science is through literature and completing STEAM based projects.
Sharing books this year is a challenge. I am requesting a book for every student to help them learn about the properties of matter and how matter and how matter changes. Science tools are also needed to further investigate this topic. The matter tub activity will allow a hands-on approach to help learn this concept. It is essential to have engaging resources which provide positive outcomes in learning.
