My students learn best with hands-on experiments and firsthand looks at things. They have a great enthusiasm for learning math and science and this school year, I will be teaching ELA and Social Studies as well. We are from a Title One school.
My students come to school with an eagerness to learn.
I want to grow my students' curiosity to learn by showing them that learning can be fun. Mrs. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus series always said, "Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!" My class does this with hands-on learning and STEAM. My classroom is a fun and inviting place to learn. I have hands-on activities every day. My goal is to introduce students to science in a fun way and inspire students to want to pursue a career in science. I also have a goal to inspire students to have a love of learning for years to come.
My Project
This playground equipment will make our playground full of possibilities for my students. With a kickball set, jump ropes, hula hoops students will have more options for their recess time. They will be able to practice their good sportsmanship skills as well as sharing and being kind to others. This equipment will help them to stay physically fit and use their recess time wisely. Good sportsmanship, sharing, and being kind are great life skills for students of any age to practice each day at school. With these supplies they will have that opportunity every day.
I also plan to use the kickball set as a game we can play to review math concepts.
Students will get a chance for their team to answer a problem correctly, if they do they can have a chance to kick the ball for their team. This way of reviewing math concepts has in the past proven to be a great way to review, fun for the students, and a great way to incorporate being active at school and while learning. This year I do not have a kickball set for my new students to try this game. I plan to also try other subjects to use this game as a review! My students are going to love it!
The sounds of children cooperating and playing together will fantastic! That will be a beautiful thing!
