This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students that I am working with this year are volunteering their writing and creative skills to create a school newspaper and school literary magazine. These 7th and 8th graders are passionate about writing, photography, art, and sharing their passions with the world!
My students are diverse in ethnicity, race, life experiences, and struggles, and it is my goal as their teacher to give them an opportunity to share their gifts with the world in an environment that is welcoming, primed for learning, and enhanced with technology.
My Project
Having a podcast microphone and camera will help students have the resources they need to create quality student publications. The podcast microphone will help students create podcasts for the digital newspaper and the camera will assist students in taking photos for the digital newspaper and literary magazine. The memory card will be used mainly for the camera. All of these resources will help them become better student journalists.
This year is already a struggle for many of our students, but allowing them to have these additional resources to use will help them to feel more professional in their publication efforts.
