My Students

At our school, we have a diverse student population, with about 42% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch. Our students are consistently striving to try to make things better for our school and each other.

Despite the various obstacles in their life, the students are great stewards of trying to do what is right, especially when it comes to their own well-being and those of their classmates.

They concentrate on their studies, however, they are so inquisitive and want to bring their focus to the next level. I would like to give them the beginnings of our own MAKER-SPACE in the classroom, so that they can have the opportunity to create and bring their dreams to a reality.

My Project

Education is changing the look and feel of the elementary classroom. Instead of reading about engineering and science in action, my students now want to touch, feel and examine, as well as, make their own creation based on the task at hand.

No longer are my nine year olds satisfied with just reading about electrical and solar energy in science class.

They want to research and make their own circuits, robots and gadget that utilize these energies. Building projects using what they have learned about, is a very powerful and satisfying feeling they will keep with them the rest of their lives
