My special education students love using technology to grow and learn. These students come from low-income families and have been identified as having a learning disability, other health impairment, ADHD, or autism. These students' lives are transient many live in long term hotels or with other family members. Our school is a Title 1 school. I am looking to provide them with tools they need to improve their reading and math abilities. My students come to school wanting to learn. They are caring, funny, and make me a better teacher. These students learn differently and I want to provide them with tools to make them successful learners.
My special education students are eager learners. Many of my students have very limited use of technology. My school is a title one school so many students come from poverty stricken homes. Technology is used to supplement instruction. I teach a new skill and then they can use the tablet to practice the skill. Many of my students have ADHD and having difficulty staying focused. However, when they get to use technology, they are focused and are learning while having fun! The tablet will be used to practice math facts and skills listen to audio books, enhance their writing, and so much more. With technology the possibilities are endless!
