Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently teach PE and serve all the students at our school. The school is a Title I school located in a low socioeconomic area in Orlando Florida. One hundred percent of the students receive free breakfast, lunch, and supper.
Most of our scholars are English as a Second language learners.
I currently have students from different countries, different formal education experiences, and use different types of strategies to learn.
Many are coming to this country after having traumatic experiences in their home country and are living with family members other than their parents.
Regardless of these circumstances, my students are hardworking and eager to learn. Our school and our classroom is a happy, safe, loving, and important place for them.
My Project
My students come from a low socioeconomic area and deserve the best instruction as possible. When having music incorporated into my lessons, students come alive and want to fully immerse themselves into the lesson.
For example, when teaching dribbling skills students could use the music to know when to start and stop.
They would be able to stay in rhythm. When giving corrections on their technique or to give positive reinforcement there will be no issues of not hearing the call out. For special needs students who may have hearing difficulties, those students would benefit from the speaker system.
As a teacher, when having students fully engaged students learn, there are less discipline problems, and students can totally hear the instruction taking place.
Right now, the students share the PE area with recess. With the elements of the weather or students that are playing loud, it becomes a struggle for the students to hear the lesson. With the Bluetooth system, microphone, and speaker students can clearly hear the instruction.
I love educating the children, and only want them to have the best experiences when coming out to Physical Education class.
With students becoming less active in today’s times, anything that could encourage activity would be boundless. Students could learn the importance of always being active. And with music and being able to hear the instruction could create a positive experience I feel this sound system would work tremendously.
