We want to give all of our students more time for hands-on learning! Students learn best when they are in control of their learning, able to problem solve and have opportunities to persevere through challenges.
At my school, students love the chance to learn in creative ways.
They love to think outside of the box! We want to foster those skills. Our school serves K-5 students/thinkers/creators/inventors. Our wonderful community is a public elementary school, in a diverse town, serving students of all different abilities. Every learner is welcome in our school!
My Project
Kids need more opportunities in their school day to be creative problem solvers. These materials will help our school reach its goal of creating a "Maker Space" to give our students more of these critical opportunities. Specifically, this project will help us create a Lego Wall/Area for students to plan, build, try, fail and try again!
Imagine walking into a library to see children working together to plan and build a Lego town.
Imagine a group of fourth graders building a simple machine out of Legos or a pair of first graders exploring three-dimensional shapes that they built with their own hands. Imagine a place where kids feel safe enough to try and to possibly fail.
