My Students

Science is a area that naturally brings out the curiosity of all students. An iPad can increase that creativity in my Science class.

My seventh and eighth grade students come from a very diverse community and come to me with varied experiences.

I believe that it is my responsibility to provide them with as many tools as possible to compete in this world of science and technology. Many of my students are very creative and I would like to tap into their creativity, like Disney, to increase their Science content learning.

My Project

My classroom is STEAM-focused and activity based, where the student is at the center of all experiences. This focus means that Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math are integrated into my curriculum. These interactive technologies will help involve all students in the lessons while capturing their attention and introducing them to many broad and encompassing activities. I will use the iPad in my STEAM-based classroom by combining Visual and Performing Art Standards with new NGSS Science and Engineering Standards.

VAPA standard 5.3 for 7th Grade brings a connection between art and science: "Examine art, photography, and other two and three-dimensional images, comparing how different visual representations of the same object lead to different interpretations of its meaning..." This fits perfectly with California's Next Generation Science Standards which includes students developing and using models.

Models are an excellent way for students to learn science and be creative. An iPad will help this happen.
