Using 3D Printing to Explore STEM

My students need a 3D FlashForge printer to access their STEM program. They will be exploring their creativity with learning how to design a 3D object and printing it.

My Students

My students are from a small rural farming town. We have only one school in the community which is PreK-8.

Many of the families are hard-working blue-collar types who value education with strong vein of practicality.

Since the local economy is labor based, the money isn't always available for new equipment to fund projects. It creates a problem for kids who should have some of the same opportunities offered in more economically-affluent areas.

My students are bright and eager to learn, but need some funding assistance to make this work.

My Project

My students need to work on creating with technology as most job opportunities in their lifetime will be technology based. When given the opportunity to create their own designs, they can start planning for more complex projects and builds.

They will need to design objects with 3D software and make those creations come alive through 3D printing.

At first, they will have simple designs; but with experience, they will be able to create pieces to make their own buildings, toys, or puzzles.

The experiences they have now will further their chances of success in high school and college STEM classes. This, in time, will encourage more to apply for STEM fields.
